0.9.03 released

New update. This time with a lot of features and bugfixes. I hope I haven't introduced as many new ones this time around.
New and noteworthy:
  • Added loop start & end modulation
  • Added glide modulation
  • Made mono mode handle held notes correctly
  • Fixed broken XSD definitions for polyphonic modes
  • Fixed wave start modulation units
  • Fixed "goto" in sample editor
  • Fixed sample editor update on drag&drop of samples
  • Tweaked resonance of filter to be a little less loud&aggressive.
  • Reduced automatable program slots to 32
  • Added 48 assignable automation parameters
Please take note of the last two bullets. I previously wrote about changing how automation works. This is perhaps some sort of middle ground between previous way and what I talked about in an earlier post. Basically now you can assign an automation parameter (global) as a modulation source in one or more groups where you might otherwise use an external controller. They idea is to help those with hosts that do not allow for automation curves using midi controllers.

There is now also modulation destinations for wave start, loop start+end and glide. All these are Note-on modulation, i.e the value is determined on sample trigger.

Note: The filter resonance has been scaled back a bit. It's less prone to overdrive and feedback sounds now.  I personally think it sounds more useful. But obviously, any filter settings made with previous versions will sound a bit different. Let me know your opinion.

I am currently working on a quick start guide for TX16Wx. 'tis heavy work. We shall see if I can finish this week.

  1. Amazing!!! I really like the rate at which you release updates.

I shamefully haven't tried TX16Wx yet, though I downloaded it from first release.

What I want to ask is: can you slice samples into regions in the sample editor? If for example I want to chop a 4 bar loop into 16 pieces... Is this possible?

  2. PS: I'm looking forward to the 'quick start guide'...

  3. There is no slicing or playing of slices in the sampler (yet). REX support is on the request list, and I might add some slicing functionality to the editor at some point. However, there are quite a lot of limitations on what can be done UI-wise because currently. Not sure how advanced I can make it without re-doing the whole UI in QT or something.

  4. theres plenty of chopper VST's out there...
    I wouldn't clutter TX16Wx with further bells
and whistles. Concentrate more on making it stable and easy to use. The wonkey open wave dialog box still happens in this new update :(
am i the only one seeing it?

  5. Sorry, I didn't have time to address the file dialog. My bad. Thanks for the screencast, I'll reciprocate by getting right on it! :)

  6. thanks calle, its just an annoying glitch that gets in the way of browsing for the samples.....
    the preview feature is great.

  7. To me, it's just a huge gap in a sampler if there's no slicer.

A slicer is such an essential tool of a sampler nowadays (Geist, FL Studio's Edison, etc. etc.)

It's just too oldschool having to slice your sample in another program. Because basically that means that you sample your vinyl (or whatever sound source) in TC16Wx, save the .wav audio file, open it in another slicer program, and then use a THIRD program to actually arrange the chops.

That's just to hard work and bad for workflow to compete properly with the big samplers. And it's too bad, because your sampler really has HUGE potential on a lot of other subjects.

My suggestion: add slice (and/or autochop function) and the possibility to save the chop info in .wav files (like, say, Edison) and perhaps also .rex and .rx2 files as you mention.

This would make this sampler REALLY useful!

Other than that, keep up the amazing work!
